Project Director – Main Contractor

Blackmount Recruitment is looking to speak with experienced Project Directors for senior leadership opportunities with established London-based contractors delivering large-scale residential, commercial, mixed-use, refurbishment, high-rise, and complex construction projects.

This is aimed at senior construction professionals who can take overall responsibility for major projects, lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage client relationships, drive programme and commercial performance, and ensure successful delivery from pre-construction through to handover.

Typical Responsibilities:
• Taking overall responsibility for the delivery of major construction projects
• Leading project teams across construction, commercial, design, planning, technical, logistics, health & safety, and quality
• Managing client relationships, consultant teams, subcontractors, and senior internal stakeholders
• Driving project strategy, programme, procurement, risk management, reporting, and delivery performance
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially, and to the required quality standards
• Overseeing budgets, cost control, change management, progress reporting, and contractual matters
• Supporting pre-construction, buildability reviews, logistics planning, and project mobilisation
• Chairing senior project meetings and reporting to board-level leadership
• Building strong project teams and ensuring clear communication across all disciplines

Ideal Candidate:
• Proven experience as a Project Director, Senior Project Manager, Operations Lead, or Construction Lead
• Strong main contractor or developer contractor background
• Experience delivering major London construction projects, ideally residential, commercial, mixed-use, refurbishment, high-rise, or technically complex schemes
• Excellent leadership, client-facing, commercial, and programme management skills
• Strong understanding of design, procurement, construction methodology, logistics, H&S, quality, and handover
• Ability to manage large teams, multiple stakeholders, and high-value projects
• Strong track record of successful project delivery from early stages through to completion
