Estimator – Main Contractor

Blackmount Recruitment is looking to speak with experienced Estimators for upcoming opportunities with London-based contractors operating across residential, commercial, refurbishment, fit-out, mixed-use, façade, and general construction projects.

This role would suit an Estimator who is confident reviewing tender information, measuring works, sending enquiries to subcontractors, building up rates, analysing returns, and supporting the commercial and pre-construction teams through the tender process.

Typical Responsibilities:
• Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, and employer’s requirements
• Preparing accurate take-offs, measurements, and pricing documents
• Sending subcontractor enquiries and managing tender returns
• Building up rates and producing cost estimates across relevant trade packages
• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams
• Supporting tender submissions, clarifications, value engineering, and adjudication meetings
• Identifying risks, exclusions, assumptions, and opportunities within the tender
• Working closely with senior estimators, commercial managers, and pre-construction teams

Ideal Candidate:
• Previous estimating experience within a contractor environment
• Experience pricing building, residential, commercial, refurbishment, fit-out, envelope, or specialist packages
• Strong measurement, analytical, and commercial skills
• Ability to read drawings and understand technical construction information
• Good subcontractor market knowledge and ability to secure competitive returns
• Confident using estimating software, Excel, and tender documentation systems
• Organised, detail-focused, and able to work to tender deadlines
